Colorado skies are some of the most punchy that I’ve ever witnessed. Light streams in through breaks in the thunderheads that dump momentary showers like clockwork during the monsoon season of July and August. The light can be bright and dark all at the same time. Wide vistas of the mountainous panorama can display a full range of meteorological conditions simultaneously.
It goes without saying, a cat must be tidy.

Cold and cloudy December evening in Wisconsin, fifteen minutes before dusk, we can still get a few hoops in.
Cats are tidy animals, they try to keep it neat to make a good impression.
In the crisp late winter air the hearts gather on the fence line.
Buck the Cat descends the snowy steps. Cold paws.
The cat gets to rippin’ around the house, too fast to catch, sort of a blur.
DON’T SCRATCH YOUR CLAWS ON THE FURNITURE!!!!
Hearts congregate in large numbers, murders these groups are called.
Hmmmmm. Meow.
Hearts head home after spending the day in the valley. They’ll fly back tomorrow.
So much sleep to accomplish in 24 hours, it’s not easy.

Drawn to scale, the cone of the Sugar Pine shown here is in the medium range in size. These cones can grow to over two feet in length. They are superb in their symetry and the rythmic spiraling of their woody scales.
