I paint these Daily Cats by sketching the outline and light parts of the image with a cheap, click type mechanical pencil. I erase frequently until I get an image that matches a photo I’ve taken. Getting the proportions right is often the main problem for me in getting an accurate representation. Control of this ink can also be challenging.

This painting is one view of the many panoramic sights that can be seen from this hilltop monument. The house is open to the public and a fascinating way to spend 2-3 hours. Bring your paints. I painted this sitting hunkered down on a bench in the damp New York winter.
