https://www.dailycat.bigcartel.comI’m using a Chinese solid ink with a caligraphy brush instead of the liquid Higgins ink I’ve been usung for months. The solid ink has a different consistancy and is easier to direct with water, I can control the contrast a lot better with it. Meow.

It was painted as I was hunkered down in my car with the door open. Plein aire is not my favorite way to paint a nocturne. It can be a real challenge, not that I’m not up for challenges. It’s a skill to be acquired through practice, lots of practice

Ponderosa Pine Cone
ponderosa Cone, watercolor, 9×12″, 2019, copyrighted with all rights reserved by Jena Krueger This cone is a lot larger and harder that most of the ponderosa cones I’ve painted. We found it in Southern California. I wonder if I identified it correctly although in searching for visual info on it, it most likely resembles the ponderosas. I may have to re-title it someday if I find it’s a different species.
