Daily Cat 148, brush and ink, 6×4″, 2020, copyrighted with all rights reserved by Jean Krueger I had a heck of a time sketching this portrait. I couldn’t get his head right. I paint these Daily Cats by sketching the outline and light parts of the image with a cheap, click type mechanical pencil. I erase frequently until I get an image that matches a photo I’ve taken. Getting the proportions right is often the main problem for me in getting an accurate representation. Control of this ink can also be challenging.

https://www.dailycat.bigcartel.comI’m using a Chinese solid ink with a caligraphy brush instead of the liquid Higgins ink I’ve been usung for months. The solid ink has a different consistancy and is easier to direct with water, I can control the contrast a lot better with it. Meow.
