In Florida, roosters and chickens are feral. That’s where this one lives. They’re only as tames as they need to be and live well in their free range.

I painted this with leftover paint from a larger work in order not to waste the leftover pigments. The image of the leaves, stems and surrounding ground litter was made by removing paint tith a rubber sculpting tool.

Each year in Westcliffe, CO, A Painted View Ranch sponsors the Sangre de Cristo Classic Cutting Horse Show. I go and take photos. It’s a great show, the horses and cattle are magnificent and the action is non-stop.
