Golden Shiners are a minnow-ish fish, living in the same places as trout and bass. They’re related to carp, I think, thus think goldfish…but different. Think Inktober. #inktober
This is a Trout Fly, designed and tied by Ted Krueger. It’s a Wet Fly which means it goes beneath the surface of the water rather than floating on top. The hook is ‘bent back’ which means the barb is on top. It’s made from feathers and wool fiber.
Greyling is a fresh water fish that lives at high altitudes (think Colorado). It’s a relative of trout but has scales whereas trout do not. It’s painted at close to full scale. They’re quite colorful.
Rock Bass are warm water fish, This one was caught and released in Lake Adirondack in upstate New York. Pastels are a really good media when depicting the vibrant nuances of shiny, scaly fish, much easier for me to control than watercolor. https://www.dailypaintworks.com/buy/auction/1079279
