It’s summer and the Sun Fish dart about the warm shallows just off shore. There are several varieties. This one is a ‘Pumpkin Seed”, named so because of the distinctive red/orange ‘ear’ on its gill.

I haven’t had time to post lately. In was accepted into the Art-O-Mat project (which I’ll post here later), and neglected the Daily Cat series along with most other art endeavors.
If you’ll notice, I have a new site format here, let me know what you think about it. I do really want to sell my art and I hope the site renovation will interest you to look at my body of work and buy some of it. Contact me, Jeankruegerfineart@gmail.com for more info.

You lookin’ at me? Meow.

This is the first painting in The Daily Cat Series on which I used a dip pen with India ink. Previously I’ve always used a brush, usually a calligraphy brush. That makes this Cat a drawing. The pen is a bit more tedious and I’m rusty with the technique. I plan to continue using the pen with the goal of becoming more fluid and intuitive. Do you like this new look for The Daily Cat? Tell me about it.

Meow. cat contortions. I find these cat poses difficult, the motion, the very dark contrast of the image, the twisted body, all that’s difficult to capture. And then there’s always the temptation to add that one last brush stroke instead of just leaving good enough alone. Meow.
